• On the Rules tab, tap New rule: choose Block or Allow, which calls, and who.
• On the Status screen, tap Grant access and choose Gently in the Android dialog.

• Call redirection: Lets Gently stop outgoing calls before they connect.
• Caller ID & spam: Lets Gently reject incoming calls before your phone rings. Only one app can hold it, so your phone's own spam protection pauses while Gently does.
• Contacts: Android only passes calls from saved contacts to apps that may read contacts. Gently never reads your address book.

Android allows only one "Caller ID & spam" app. Gently needs that role to block incoming calls, so while it holds it, your Phone app (e.g. Google Phone) pauses its spam filtering. Outgoing blocking does not affect it.

To give it back: in Gently, open Settings › Permissions › Restore spam protection, then:

• Tap “Caller ID & spam app”
• Choose your Phone app
• Come back to Gently
